Salem Lutheran Church Wedding Policy Agreement

Salem Lutheran Church affirms that the Bible is the fully inspired Word of God, and the final authority in all matters. The Bible affirms that marriage is the first institution created by God for man and provides specific instruction as to its nature and requirements of conduct. Therefore, we encourage all couples seeing to be married to consult God and His word regarding their union. In submitting to the Bible as God’s Word, Salem Lutheran Church reserves the right to deny use of its facilities to any couple that openly rejects by statement or conduct the teachings of God in the Bible regarding salvation, marriage or Christian living.

I understand that I must complete the Marriage Preparation Process which includes:

1. Complete the online Prepare inventory. Plan 45 minutes (separately) to finish. When both partners have completed their inventory, the scored inventory is automatically sent to Tim Garrett, our Pastoral Counselor.

2. As a couple, attend the 10-hr CPREP Marriage Preparation class designed to strengthen the relationship of couples preparing for marriage. You can sign up for this at www.salem4u.com/events.

3. Schedule a Prepare debrief with Tim Garrett. Plan about three hours at Salem, talking through your strengths and opportunities for growth as a couple. Tim will call or email you to make an initial contact with you when your inventory is scored. Please complete Prepare debrief at least one week before your scheduled meeting.

4. Schedule an appointment with the pastor officiating your wedding. Plan about 90 minutes for this meeting.
